Voila!

We got the house, moved in, and have started creating our space. We love it. I love K.

T-Minus 4

We signed the doc's at the title company yesterday! At that moment it seemed like a done deal. At that moment.

Now we are waiting for the home owner to sign the paperwork so the deal can "record". Once it records we are the rightful owners of the home. Only one problem: no one can get in touch with the home owner! What the heck?! Today is the closing date, the very same closing date that is printed in legible TYPE on all the documents; the offer, the acceptance, everything! We are utterly puzzled as to what the owner is thinking.

It didn't help stopping by yesterday at the house. She hasn't moved anything since the last time we saw the place - over a week! TODAY IS CLOSING!

Oh well, it will all work out! We'll get the keys today.

Near the Summit

The loan is approved, it sits at the Title Company, and all that remains is signing the paperwork and obtaining the keys! We will get the house keys this Friday if we are able to sign the paperwork any time before 10:00 am on Friday, July 29th. We are hopeful that it will happen!

K and I have packed-up almost the entire house and are quite excited to move. We hope we don't have to wait until Monday to move-in because our current place feels more like a storage unit than a house at this point. We've scheduled Comcast, Brinks, movers, and Qwest at various times over the weekend and it would be a drag to reschedule. Just have to see what happens, I suppose!

Yippee, almost there! I love you, K.

Approved!

Our loan has officially been approved and sent to the Title Company for processing. Things are looking good (knock on wood).

I love you, K!

More waiting

Still waiting! We may end up having to wait until Monday to move in to our new home but we'll know for sure by Thursday or so. It is getting close!!!

Got a minute?

Waiting and more waiting. Everything seems to be going fine but the waiting is hard! We are feeling in a state of limbo; the house isn't officially ours yet, we can't plan our moving date or changing of the utilities, and we can't start purchasing the things we are going to need until we officially get the house. Patience...patience.

All indications are that it won't be too hard to find a renter for our current place (knock on wood). We showed the place last night and our landlord has already had a ton of calls. It would be great to get it rented right away since it would save us a ton of money!

Mama D in P

Mama D arrived today for a visit from Ohio. She's great. I am amazed each time I see her because I notice more and more how much K looks like her.

We are going to the beach house this Friday with Mama D and will stay until Sunday. She'll pack up and venture down to Santa Barbara on Monday to visit K's sister E for about a week. She'll come back to Portland to finish up her trip.

Nice to have her here with us!

Put a Pipe In It

The home owner agreed to fix the sewer line and all that remains is the financing and final paperwork!

The waiting game has started.

Anomaly

We have found a mortgage broker we like and we've decided to go with her! Thank the Universe! She offered us a great rate, low closing costs, and she is nice. Sounds like a wrap to me.

I Got Something You Can Inspect

The home inspection and sewer scope were performed today. The home inspection went fine but the sewer scope revealed a sewer line ripe with root damage.

Towards the end of the process the rather intimidating fellow performing the scope leaned over to me and said, "this is the best hundred dollars you ever spent kid." While I was thinking of quite a few $100 expenditures to challenge his statement it suddenly occured to me that we were going to have to ask the home owner to fix the sewer line....to the tune of $2,000.

Gulp.

Is This a Car or a House?

What the heck? Who are these people? We've been shopping the loan around to various mortgage companies and I have one word to sum it up: eeewwww!

We met one guy so repulsive it took every bit of our collective self-control just to sit with him for ten minutes. He had Jesus stuff all over his office, which is ok, but he was about as sacred as a ten pound sack of terds. We weren't in his office more than two minutes and he was asking for money to run a credit check. I wouldn't give that dude my social security number for all the biscuits in Mississippi.

Never trust a person who tells you five times in five minutes that they "don't lie" and are "honest". Red Flag! Red Flag!

Wow...this is turning in to quite the experience.

Yippee!

The offer was accepted! (Jump! Twist! Twirl!) Now the business starts - financing. Papa D flew out a few days ago and has shown us the ropes in a short time. Wow, smart fella.

I'd Buy That for a Dollar

Well, we made an offer on a house! We love the house and eagerly await a reponse from the seller.
